So every Monday, there's this young lady that dresses up in a Victorian-era dress, parasol, and white face paint, and acts like an animatronic. You put a tip in her basket, and she'll "come to life", moving very robotically, making "zzzzzt-click!" sounds, and blowing u a kiss before going back to the same smiling standing position.
I was bored, so I drew her in my sketchbook. After drawing it and taking this photo, I cut it out and gave it to her. She was super excited and totally broke character to talk to me. Her name is Elizabeth and she's a dance major at SF City College.
SF is so cool :]

"moving robotically" is very hard to get a handle on. Yeah, it has something to do with starting and stopping without any real acceleration, but it's so much more than that--the linearity of motion, plus that "jerk" and "stutter" when you start or stop. I'm a long way from figuring out how to come close.
